Blog, meet Munchkin. Munchkin, meet Blog.

I would love the opportunity to photograph your pet. Send me a note to learn more!
I had a busy photography weekend. And really, a pretty busy week too. There was no slowing down! It was great to get out and explore new places and make friends with similar passions and goals. The weather has been fantastic and I’m making good use of my convertible before it gets too hot to have the top down
On Saturday, the JFT group had a model shoot in Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach, Florida. It’s north of Jacksonville, a neat little town with charm. We visited Fort Clich which is a very old well-preserved fort. It was a great place to photograph aspiring models. I posted several shots:
On Sunday, I had a portrait session with a really cool “eclectic” couple. Everything about them was neat… from driving an electric car, their professions, to hearing her cool English accent. It was neat getting to talk to them. I first connected with her on a blog I read and they invited me to Three Layers Coffeehouse in Springfield. When I was asking friends about this coffeehouse, no one really knew about it. Springfield has a bad rep but Three Layers is a real gem. It was the most welcoming, beautiful coffeehouse I’ve seen in Jacksonville yet. They have a wine bar called the Cellar and a Zen Garden in the back.
Here are a few sneak peaks of their shoot:

Before the shoot, friends from Fort Myers stopped in Jacksonville for lunch while they were passing through town. I’m really impressed by this couple who are fostering several children. I’m always touched when I hear that people are helping make other people’s lives better.
Justin & Christine

Here are a few portraits of Justin taken at Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach, FL. View the full set here.

Lindsey is a natural beauty. She has that cute, all-American girl look. These are from the JFT outing at Fort Clinch. The full set is here.

I was privileged to be about to photograph the gorgeous, spunky Deb O’Nair during the latest JFT trip. This woman knows how to work it! View the full set here.

The Jax Field Trips group on Flickr’s monthly photo outing was at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach, Florida. It is “one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country,” according to the State Parks website. JFT invaded the park for a day and we had a great time networking and taking portraits of aspiring models. More portraits from the day to come!
Alyssa
Alyssa is so beautiful. She has a gorgeous exotic look. Her eyes were amazing. See the full set here.

One of the Jacksonville photography groups coordinated a photo shoot at the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s a non-profit group that dedicates their amazing time and effort to taking care of big cats like lions, tigers and cougars. According to their site,
We provide sanctuary to cats confiscated by the state for illegal ownership, improper enclosures or maltreatment. We also educate the public to discourage illegal, private ownership. Wild animals, especially big cats, do not make good pets.
I wish I could have gotten up close and personal with these beautiful animals but it was still neat getting to interact with them through the nice, safe fences. In this picture, you will find Sarah, who was quite playful. Here, she rests after playing with a volunteer. It’s $10 per person to see this cats– and it’s worth a trip out towards the airport. Kids would really love it.
